Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has third daughter after birth of baby Lourdes

The couple have taken a leaf out of international popstar Madonna's book, naming the 7lb baby Lourdes, also the name of a place of pilgrimage for Catholics

 

The wife of Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard has given birth to the couple’s third daughter, Lourdes.

The baby girl was born on Tuesday at around 4pm weighing 7lb 15oz and shares her name with Madonna’s first child who was born in 1996.

Gerrard already has two daughters, seven year-old Lilly-Ella and Lexie who is five and the midfielder said soon after the birth: “Both mum and baby are doing well.”
A spokesman for the couple said: “Steven and Alex would like to thank the media for respecting the privacy of their family at this time.”
Gerrard, who recently made a goal-scoring comeback against Manchester United, is currently sidelined after picking up an infection in his ankle.
